Song for the Occasion
Zeus laid at the edge of Joana's nest his head resting at the edge. The beagle had been kind enough to nurse his pups. His own pups. The idea was still baffling but there he was, watching his three beautiful daughters sleep. The cold night air had broken his fear of the three getting too hot in the summer heat.
He watched his own children squirm with Joana's. For a few wonderful moments, the world was peaceful. Zeus closed his eyes as a cool breeze filled the room. A cold breeze. ... Oh god.
Zeus tossed over onto his other side but he... he just couldn't sleep. He had been crying, but at this point, he didn't think he had any tears left in him. It wasn't that he was sad... he probably should be, he was... in shock and... and terrified and so many other things he couldn't explain.
He hated this, but he was scared. As a dame, it was his job to take part in this; it was his duty. These dogs had given him a home, feed him, they had let him own his garden, and here he is not wanting to listen to the commands.
He had to listen. He... he... was about to puke. No, he wasn't he hadn't eaten, he couldn't...
